Human-in-the-loop is not a failure of automation—it is how regulated operations stay accountable. The goal is to review only what matters: low model confidence, high financial exposure, or rare document layouts.

Good HITL design pairs side-by-side document and fields, preserves who changed what and when, and feeds corrections back into your process so the same error does not repeat.

Use the queue metrics (age, volume, reviewer workload) as a management signal alongside straight-through processing rates.
